If you are new at watercolor you maybe frustrated thinking of what to paint. Most of the time I would suggest painting something in your surroundings. If you enjoy vivid color start with flowers, if you live in a rural community or countryside paint the scenery around you. If you find people fascinating and you enjoy a challenge concentrate on the people around you.
By all means I think still life and landscapes are the best to master first. I really do not want frustration and then loss of interest because you have “bitten off more that you can paint” in this medium.
