Starting to paint in watercolor Print E-mail
This can be a rewarding medium and experience. Watercolor is not a fast painting medium. Watercolor washes use a great deal of water. Color is built up by laying down a wash one over the other, but in order to achieve certain effects and to prevent the painting from turning into a muddy puddle of color, you must allow the painting to dry between washes. You can start more than one painting at a time and therefore while one dries you can proceed to the next and so on and so forth. Watercolors are very moveable and can travel well. You need your paints, water bottle paper and a container to hold water and paints in. You do not need an easel; you can use a board, one that is light.
